tiaki

-

Tiaki is a Maori word that means to protect, care for, and preserve. It represents a deep respect for the land and the environment that surrounds us. I was inspired by the natural wonders of New Zealand and the rich texture, thermal activity, and landscapes that make this country so unique. The thermal activity of New Zealand has been a constant source of inspiration for me. The bubbling mud pools, geysers, and hot springs that are scattered throughout the landscape are a testament to the power and beauty of nature. The vibrant colors and textures that surround these natural wonders have been a constant source of inspiration for my artwork. I aim to convey a sense of respect and reverence for the land and the environment. Tiaki is not just a word, it is a way of life that is deeply ingrained in the Māori culture. It is a reminder that we are all kaitiaki, or guardians, of the environment and that we have a responsibility to protect and preserve it for future generations.
