Since 2012, Marziale has been making a series of landscape photographs, where the absence of mankind takes precedence and nature is revealed as she once was borne.
Marziale identifies time, existing in both analogue and digital realms, as an enforced assembly that crosses cultures and inhabits all languages. Each work is configured in both 30 x 30 and 48 x 48 Inch formats, in which both scale and perspective play with the viewer’s perception of the landscape. Blurring the lines between reality and abstraction he searches for rich textures, patiently waiting for the subtle moment when the soft lighting or harsh contrast defines the space and provides the images with a sense of timeless solitude.
Marziale's landscapes reveal patterns that remind us of the subtle harmony in nature and bring us back to our emotional and physical connection to the environment.
Luca Marziale was born in 1991 in Lugano, Switzerland and graduated with a BFA from the School of Visual Arts in New York City. He lives and works in London.
